JEFFREY A. ROSS

Writer, Director, Producer

Here are some of the actors and directors I've had the pleasure of working with.

SAMPLE REEL - PAST PROJECTS

Presented below are trailers of a few of the many film projects I have worked on, and ones of which I am allowed to share with you.

Script Doctor / Producer

SHADOW CONSPIRACY

This film was a political thriller film starring Charlie Sheen, Donald Sutherland, Linda Hamilton and Sam Waterston, and Directed by George P. Cosmatos, This was the third film I worked on with George Cosmatos. The other two films were Tomb Stone and Rambo First Blood: Part II.

Script Doctor / Producer

THE SCARLET LETTER

This film was directed by Roland Joffé, and starred Demi Moore, Gary Oldman, and Robert Duvall. The film presented a plethora of problems, and at a $46M budget shooting in British Columbia and Nova Scotia, one lesson learned was never to shoot a film in the Fall in locations colder than sin.

Script Doctor / Producer

THE CELESTINE PROPHECY

This film, based on the best selling book by James Redfield, was my second foray into producing spiritual-type films. My first attempt was Lost and Found Family. There's a special technique to writing, producing, and shooting spiritual films, and this film presented all the issues of what not to do. It was challenging to say the least.

Writer / Director

BEHIND THE SCENES: THE CELESTINE PROPHECY

This "Behind the Scenes, Making Of, Documentary", was one of the first of its kind.  Using video and film footage, along with interviews and a scripted story-line, provided for a very provocative piece and one from which Sony created a separate revenue source.

Writer / Producer

LOST AND FOUND FAMILY

This film was one of my first attempts at writing a screenplay using the medium of film to deal with a social issue and present a silent protest against the treatment of Foster Kids.  It's also an example of how you always want to maintain control of your script unless you're just selling it.

Producer

STREET

Street is a perfect example of how you don't need millions of dollars to produce a decent film.  The original script needed a lot of work. However, the story line was good, and in the end we had a film that catered to a strong market base and made money.

CURRENT SCREENPLAYS & UPCOMING FILM PROJECTS

BORN IN JUNE

As a young man, June Jones aspires to become a pro-athlete. And, although he achieves his goals as a professional football player, somewhere along the way on his upward climb, he has a profound spiritual calling that, in part, transforms him from a mere professional athlete to a head coach. But this achievement and his success at mastering the dynamic “run and shoot” offense and becoming one of the most prolific football coaches in the game today, only sets the stage for his main purpose in life - to be an inspiring life coach and leader to hundreds of young men looking for a second chance, for an opportunity to reach their dreams, and to make a difference in life.

Born In June is the story of June Jones, his impact on both professional and collegiate football, and his impact on the many individuals who truly owe their lives to him.

It is a story of epic proportions. One that will touch your heart, make you cry, leap for joy, applaud, ponder, and profoundly inspire. In the same vein as “Rudy”, regardless of gender or age, Born In June will have an indelible impact on the lives of all who see it for generations and generations to come.

SEDONA SAGE

Everything happens for a reason. This is one of several themes that reoccur throughout the movie. It's a story of an eighteen year-old boy named Logan Chance. He is handsome, intelligent, and a star athlete who comes from a happy, well adjusted home. He has everything going for him until one day he discovers that he was adopted and is a half breed: half Lakota Indian and half white.

Hurt and confused, Logan runs away and begins what turns out to be a spiritual journey and eventual quest to find his real mother. The journey is filled with all the lessons and metaphors of life. Along the way he meets several characters, all spiritual guides, who help him grow from a naive boy to a man, and from a human being to a spiritual being. He also learns what it means to be Native American and Lakota.

Logan's journey takes him over miles and miles of some of the most breath-taking scenery in the country, including Mesa Verde and Sedona, AZ.

This movie is for everyone, men and women. Each person who sees it will walk away with something different and apply it to their own life. Its poignant message, combined with incredible cinematography and a beautiful musical score...will make Sedona Sage a movie for the ages.

OUTWITTING THE DEVIL

The film is neither a biopic of Napoleon Hill, or an adaptation of the book Outwitting the Devil. It is a light drama surrounding four friends: Steve, an early thirties bright single man who deals with procrastination and confidence issues; Jared, a self made millionaire who understands positive thinking but whose faith is questioned; Jorde, another millionaire who has inherited all his money but doesn't appreciate its value; and Mathew, a successful, God-fearing man who runs his life and family under the controls of church and perceived social morals.

After one of them suffers a serious accident, all four take an introspective look at their own lives and experience the various messages found in Outwitting the Devil and how those messages, both positively and negatively affect them.

The film opens fifteen years in the future on a sound stage and with the making of a motion picture. Within moments we discover that the film being produced is the making of the book, Outwitting the Devil, with an actor playing Napoleon Hill from 1938 in his study. We view this production from behind the scenes. Along with us, is a mysterious man who is also observing the production.

As Jim, the actor portraying Napoleon Hill, engages the Devil in a cross examination, the mysterious man, while listening to the exchange between Hill and the Devil and hearing the messages being delivered, reminisces to fifteen years earlier when he was one of four friends who, through life altering events, receive the message of Outwitting the Devil and permanently change their lives.

BLEEDING HEART

Richard Thomas, convicted for a rape he says he didn’t commit, is sentenced to fifteen years; he makes parole after serving six years at the Louisiana State Prison.  Now back on the streets, he’s ready to set the record straight.

One night, two months later, Richard, now settled down into a routine life and working at a neighborhood liquor store, meets a young and beautiful graduate student named Shannon Hart.

There is instantly some sort of attraction and chemistry between them.

That same night as Shannon returns home, a stalker awaits within the dark shadows of a dimly lit, rain-soaked street, watching her every move.

Will Shannon be rescued and, if so, by whom? Is the stalker also the rapist/murderer? Or, perhaps, there is more than one stalker, and, who is stalking whom?  Will justice prevail?  Time will tell as the clock ticks down.

Filmed against the dynamic backdrop of New Orleans, and in true fashion of an Alfred Hitchcock thriller, Bleeding Heart is one of the most heart pounding, non-stop thrillers of today, a story that will keep audiences on the edges of their seats…and with a hook that will baffle even the canniest of detectives.

IN THE TEETH OF JUSTICE

Hot-shot young attorney, Lyon Conner, thinks that since he landed a job at the D.A.’s office, he’s now ready to take on the world with his belief that law is justice, and justice is law.  However, after losing a case, solely due to his own mismanagement of the facts, where  an elderly woman dies after being emotionally and sexually abuse, Conner is rudely awakened to exactly what practicing law truly means, and how many lives can be affected by his choice and his mistakes.

As punishment for his blunder, Conner is assigned a no-brainer case. He is expected to merely stamp it, close it, and file it. However, after studying the case, Conner's instinct tells him that there's something missing and very wrong about the case. He teams up with Detective Crump, an aging black officer with a chip on his shoulder and a wit to match. Together they unlock a cruel and horrific crime that only begins to scratch the surface.

Conner and Crump catch the accused criminals. However, to see them sentenced and put away, Conner is faced with a career-changing decision. Does he choose the law...or does he choose justice?

The Teeth of Justice is based on a true story.  It is a legal suspense drama filled with twists and turns, and a hook that no one will expect.

DIVA

Diva.jpg

This story is a heart-warming, romantic comedy about a singer, Sheri Goodman, who, because of her pretentiousness and unreliability, finds her career spiraling downward. After her agent books her at a home for the aging in Palm Springs, CA, she quickly leaves in her limo and starts drinking in despair.

While driving around, the limo passes the Morongo Casino Resort and Spa. She decides to check it out.

Upon entering, John Mullippeh, the Casino manager recognizes her, flaunts over her, stroking her ego, and offers her free drinks and a marker of $25,000, all motive driven.

She accepts and proceeds to get plastered while losing over $23,000 at the blackjack table.

Unable to pay the marker, which John was counting on, and being on sovereign soil,  Sheri is forced to become a lounge act for two weeks.

This is where the story takes off as Sheri, dejected and angry, causes or encounters one mishap after another until she meets a little Native American girl, named  Harmony, who teaches her the meaning of love and forgiveness and changes her life.

Diva is fast-paced, heart-warming, funny, embodies the spiritual beauty of the Native culture, and will include a top-selling soundtrack.  It is a family film for all ages.
